Bears are Bad News: Difference between revisions

(→‎Western Animation: Added Example)
Line 441:
** Goss Harag is one of the series' creepiest monsters. Why? Because it's an oni bear, that's why! Its oddly humanoid face looks like a demonic mask, and it's intelligent enough to understand tool usage as shown by its fighting style, which has it freeze its forearms into icy blades and clubs. It's also far more dangerous than Arzuros or Lagombi, and is a hard-hitting, deceptively quick late-game monster that can really fuck you up if you aren't careful while fighting it.
** The obscure Caesarber from the now-defunct Monster Hunter Online tries so hard to be scary. And while it would be an imposing foe in real life, its status as a beaver bear meant that it was doomed to be a goofy Warmup Boss for the player to beat up on.
* In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, bears are one of two animals who will actively attack Link (the other being wolves). Their attacks do a lot oof damage, and they are, if anything, more durable than Moblins. The Hyrule Compendium states that Grizzlemaw Bears are considered to be the most dangerous wild animals in Hyrule.
* Frost Bears and their stronger Hoary Bear cousins are some of the most dangerous enemies in Octopath Travelers Frostlands. They take a lot of punishment before going down and hit ridiculously hard, and their Rampage attack lets them hit your entire party for massive damage. Hoary Bears have even deadlier tools in their arsenal, such as Gather Strength which will buff their sky-high attack Up to Eleven, and Horrific Claw which will inflict the Terror status on those it hits (which prevents the victim from using the Boost mechanic).
