** Prince Mush, who, after he's revealed to be alive at the end of Chapter 3, never appears again for the rest of the game. A shame, too: Apparently, he would've been an extra boss after going through the Glitz Pit again.
* White Dwarf Starlet: Flurrie.
* Wild Goose Chase: At the Fahr Outpost, Mario is told he has to get General White's permission to use the Big Bomb Cannon, leading to an Overly Long Gag where he looks for him at Petalburg, then Keelhaul Key, Glitzville, the Great Tree, and Twilight Town (in that order) only to be told each time that he Missed Him by That Much. Then, when Mario goes bac to the Outpost, the pops up right behind them in the background! Even more hilarious, it turns out the reason White was traveling so much is because he was looking for Mario!
** It happens again during an (optional) quest where Mario has to deliver a package to White, this time the trip taking him from Fahr Outpost to Rogueport to Glitzvillw and finally to Poshley Heights.
* Words Can Break My Bones: Doopliss's curse is broken by Mario saying his name.
* Wrong Side of the Tracks: Rogueport. The name speaks for itself.

** This also hangs a lampshade on the fact that, until the release of the U.S./European "Super Mario Bros. 2", Luigi was originally a palette swapped version of Mario.
* Your Mom: Grubba basically delivers some trash talking (which he falsely attributed to Mario) to the Armored Harriers/Iron Adonis Twins, with one of the trash talks also revealed to be a veiled Yo' Mama joke, as he mentions that outie belly buttons run in the family, causing the Iron Clefts to get very angered at Mario, as their mother has an outie.
* Your Princess Is in Another Castle: IfOddly, this game has an example that does not involve Peach; if not for , Chapter 4 would've been pretty short.
