** That being said, it's advisable not to read too much into either of these pairings. Stephen Hillenburg has stated outright that SpongeBob is asexual (in the sponge sense of "not reproducing sexually", not the human sense of "not having any sexual attraction") just to ward off the shippers, and SpongeBob, being a cartoon that's meant to run on [[Rule of Funny]] is probably not the show to watch if you're into fictional relationships.
