  • Hey, It's That Guy!:
  • What Could Have Been: The concept of the Enterprise-D being destroyed and the saucer section crashing on a planet was devised in the sixth season of the show as a possible season cliffhanger. It was dismissed as being far too expensive and would require too much time to reestablish a new ship in the final season.
    • The original plans for the film involved the Enterprise-A fighting the Enterprise-D. Problems: a) there was no way for either crew to come out the good guy, and b) this would require budgeting, logistics, and all the other headaches for two full Enterprise crews at once. The plan was scrapped.
      • Not to mention that a 23rd century Constitution-class starship vs a 24th century Galaxy-class starship would have been an utter Curb Stomp Battle, advantage Picard. Course, the D12 class Bird-of-Prey effortlessly trounced the Enterprise-D...
        • It did have the Enterprise-D's shield frequency, basically de-armoring it.
          • That doesn't, however, strip the Enterprise of its ability to open fire and just blow the Bird of Prey out of the stars. Or just change the shield frequency. On top of that, doesn't the hull provide any resistance, or is the Enterprise-D just a big, soft target in combat? That being said, there was one episode where the Enterprise got trounced by a bunch of Ferengi flying a pair of old decrepit Birds of Prey, so it's not like this hasn't happened before.
