• Crack Pairing: Misa and Madoka. Word of God says it was there before he even realized it had started.
• Ho Yay: Sometimes intentional, more often not.
  • Max and Negi: One reader claimed to see this quite prevalently in the early chapters of Still Waters 1.
  • Madoka and Misa: This can be seen pretty much any time they're in the same place; shows up intentionally at the end of Ace of Spades and in the Downtime~Dekopin Rocket chapter of Still Waters Side Stories: Book 1.
• Moe Moe: Several characters seem designed with this in mind.
  • Ava Grace: Still Waters 3. An adult example, mixed with Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant for her use of water magic.
  • Caro Shaw: Still Waters 3. Shy, awkward around people, and her first attempt to make a friend was directed toward Eva. Word of God says she was designed as a character with this in mind.
  • F9A: A Robot's Life. Another Robot Girl, this time in constant fear for her life from the older robots around her who are slowly breaking down even though she loves them like family members and can't bear to leave them. Also, she's the soul of a girl who was killed off screen in Still Waters 2. If that doesn't make you want to protect her...
  • Kelory Omeris: Still Waters 3, current Demon Queen. Word of God says she was designed with this in mind as well. She only has one scene at the time this was written; time will tell how well it turns out.
  • Rally Wheeler: Shy, pink haired Robot Girl who asks permission to call Chachamaru big sister? Yeah.
• One True Threesome: Starting at the end of Still Waters 1, Akira, Jennifer, and Max. By the time Still Waters 3 rolls around they're sharing an apartment together, complete with a drunken, sleeping Akira clinging to Jennifer's (empty) shirt.
• The Scrappy: Most characters have enough of a personality to avoid this, but there are one or two who come across as particularly abrasive or annoying.
  • Kobayashi Ayumi: Still Waters 3, and especially in the Downtime~No Name Band chapter of Still Waters Side Stories: Book 1. Word of God says she was designed specifically with this in mind.
• Squick: One reader thought the interaction in Still Waters 2 between young Mochizuki Kagami and Akihiko, a member of the organized crime group her brother is in charge of, reeked of this. The author was flabbergasted that anyone would take the scene in that way.
