Not sure which section it should go in or if it's even this trope (since it seems focussed on novels) but journals almost universally attribute papers with the name format T. L. A. Lastname, optionally with an affiliation (university, industrial company's R&D department, etc.). This is for several reasons, but obscuring the authors' genders for much the same reasons mentioned in this page is a main one.
