Ten examples, detailed explanation. Any objections?
Talk:One from Column A and Two from Column B
Question: This trope can encompass that kind of memes that go "create a phrase choosing from one of these column of things according to last cell number digit/Birth date/% ob battery lct?silly thing"?
Huh? I'm not sure I understand what you're referring to.
I mean things like this excuse generator https://funnyjunk.com/Excuse+generator/funny-pictures/6148050/#dd98a4_6147606 or this DJ Name generator https://9gag.com/gag/awrQbgx, or this "male novelist description generator" https://149349728.v2.pressablecdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/1*jvrVlH-ky0CCK8cHk_Mg5g.jpeg. There are a lot more of these things for every inane thing; I see a lot of these in Facebook and Twitter
Ah. Hm. This trope is for the stock phrase that inspired the concept, and the name of, the "Chinese menu system", as well as its appearances throughout media. Those are implementations, to be sure, but they aren't explicitly using the stock phrase, so I would say no.
And looking at them again, they aren't really implementations of a Chinese Menu System, any more than a Mad Lib is. So, no, still.
Raising the question once more: Launchable?
The only thing I'd tweak is to move "Periodicals" under "Literature". My vote is to launch (one of the three needed under the new Three Rules of Three).
I too say launch it
From Looney Toons' phrasing in his initial question, I'm assuming his vote is also to launch.
Pushing this one out the door and into the wide world of tropes...
Cool. Thank you.
