What makes the use of Mobile Suit Human and Fantastic Voyage Plot "rather-sadistically" funny? The key element of a Running Gag is that it's a gag -- and from what little of XM98's output (I will not dignify it by calling it "writing") that I've been able to stomach, there's absolutely nothing funny involved, for either the reader or the characters concerned. No humor, no gag, no "running gag". I recommend deletion of this example.

I'm not trying to glorify XM98's stuff either,

but at least said stuff attempts to be funny

(even if it does usually succeed at actually doing so about as much as Freddy Got Fingered does)

I dispute that it's intended to be funny. The only reason XM98 wrote was to give himself wanking material, and he got off on the idea of running real people like drones. The only way that's funny is if you're the kind of person who finds torturing kittens to be a million laughs.

I'm frankly in favor of a blanket ban on all of XM98's garbage. They don't do anything save being an attention whore, I see no reason to give them any.

Agreed. I've already nuked the example as being thoroughly not-the-trope.

The funny part of "Xan-Fics" mostly is their pop culture references rather than being their actual plots

And again, This Is Not That Trope. Pop culture references are not running gags.
