General
- The Archer: Ruka, Racquel, Thomas, Rennie, Holmes, Shirou, Hagaru.
- Bodyguard Crush: Billford to Sharon.
- Crutch Character: In theory, this would be Eugen, but he isn't a playable unit. The closest would be Raphin who starts out pre-promoted and arrives in chapter 2, he however is only a partial example because he still grows well and can even promote again as shown below.
- Dragon Rider: In addition to the standard promotion of Pegasus Knights to Dragon Knights, Raphin (a horse-riding Command Knight) may also promote to a Dragon Knight in a break from tradition.
- Eleventh-Hour Superpower: Tia receives the ring which unlocks her Holy Sword Of Leda midway into the final chapter.
- Everything's Better with Princesses: Sasha and Tia.
- Gonk: Garo and Norton.
- Magikarp Power: Narron.
- Mighty Glacier/Genius Bruiser: Billford, Norton and Zachariah
- My Country, Right or Wrong: Ernst .
- Sinister Minister: Gwenchaos
- Those Two Guys: Kreiss and Archis.
- Worthy Opponent: Ernst.
Specific tropes
- Combination Attack: Required to kill the final boss without it just getting right back up again. At full health.
- Heel Face Mole/Guest Star Party Member/Too Awesome to Use: The above information is not entirely true, Zeek betrays your army and is fought in maps 31 and 39. You have some time to use him while he's available and he is a very worthwhile unit.
- Thou Shalt Not Kill: Raquel won't kill any human enemies, but she can kill monsters.
- Tier-Induced Scrappy: Maerhen, he starts off with low stats and has possibly the worst growths in the game. He also has the mug skill which decreases the hit and avoid of party members in a 3 square radius by 50%. This skill does allow you to take enemy's stuff once you've killed him, but Maerhen won't be killing much with his bad stats and growths.
- Wouldn't Hit a Girl: If you surround Roger on mission 4 with just female units, he won't attack them.
