• Award Snub: "The Rainbow Connection" lost the 1979 Best Song Oscar to the now-virtually-forgotten "It Goes Like It Goes" from Norma Rae.
• Complete Monster: It's hard to find someone in a Muppet movie who is really this evil to be this trope, but Doc Hopper easily comes close. Let's see what he does: he tries to sway Kermit into someone he knows he isn't likely to want to take part in, stalks Kermit across the country, kidnapping his friends and bringing in a mad scientist to brainwash him and reaches Moral Event Horizon when he brings in a frog killer to shoot and kill Kermit in a last-ditch attempt to get the frog to agree to do his commercials. Even when Kermit tries to explain things to him, Hopper wants none of it.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: The big finale song "Magic Store".

• Seinfeld Is Unfunny: Alas, many of the jokes and wackiness have been copied by countless followers (both Gremlins 2 and The SpongeBob Movie have done meta gags about their films being watched in theaters, for example), that, to anyone watching the film for the first time, it might seem less remarkable.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: Kermit riding a bike near the beginning. Don't wonder how they did it, just accept it.
  • Actually, according to Frank Oz, the effect was relatively easy to do, compared to the monstrous effort required to get Gonzo to float along on his balloons. But since the bike was the effect everyone kept gawking over, they included an entire parade of Muppets on bikes in the next movie. Just because.
