• Actor Allusion: The Postman tells one of the new recruits "You look familiar." While it's a reference to the fact that the recruit is The Mole, it's also a reference to said recruit being played by Costner's son.
• Box Office Bomb: Made $17,626,234 to its $80,000,000 budget.
• Cameo: Tom Petty plays the mayor of one of the towns the Postman visits. It's never stated outright even in the credits, but dialog heavily implies that the mayor actually is Tom Petty.
• Hey, It's That Guy!: In the movie, the assistant coach of the Titans went on to coach bigger teams.
• Star-Derailing Role: The Postman was the third Kevin Costner-driven film of the 1990's to get nuked by critics and not do well at the box office after Wyatt Earp and Waterworld, and he barely recovered from it, both in acting and directing.
