So according to the description, this trope is in desperate need of a new name. It's been tough to hash something together, but I think I've got one worked out. But first, I'd like some clarification: does "Tropeophile" (or whatever the new name will be) specifically mean the character has to be in love with the concept they're obsessed with, or is it just an all-consuming obsession that can go as far as to be romantic or erotic? Because I've got "Erotic Oddball Fixation" for the former, and "Obsessive Oddball Fixation" for the latter. I've even got plenty of examples to add for the latter if that's how we're interpreting it!

"Oddball Obsession", suggested in the note prefixed to the trope, is okay, although I'd counter-offer "Overwhelming Obsession", because "oddball" makes it sound like these are always just amusing quirks, whereas some can actually be deadly serious (*cough*The Joker*cough*).
You've got a point, there. I went with Oddball Obsession because I like how it rolls off the tongue, but I won't complain if Overwhelming is the version we ultimately go with!
