  • This guy/girl has written a handful of fics for Toy Story. Simply put, they all read like scenes from the movies.

General Fics

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

Caught on Film by Qoheleth

  • Recommended by Dogman15
  • Synopsis: Just whose cameras were those that the toys used to blind the Prospector? And what happened when that family developed their film? Follows a Jessie doll and a young man named Jake and their time together.
  • Comments: Incredibly interesting, well-written story that explores the consequences of humans discovering the secret of toy animation. Has a good bit of length to it, and looks like it's picking up pace. Highly recommended.

New Home, New Life by Dragon Star Empress

  • Recommended by Ryan Lohner
  • Synopsis: It's time for Bonnie to go to college, and Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye are sold to none other than the granddaughter of Jessie's owner Emily. That night, circumstances force them to reveal to her that they're alive, leading to everyone living together and the younger Emily trying to get the whole family back together.
  • Comments: The story is a hard sell early on due to some very uncomfortable touching on adult subjects like rape, but after the initial reveal that the toys are alive it settles down nicely and becomes quite moving when we learn what really led to Jessie being put in that donation box. Plus, some fun examination of the mythology of living toys when Emily learns the whole story and notes some inconsistencies.
    • Mad Midnight Dreams: YMMV. Nothing flows, the dialogue feels clunky, misspellings and misuses of 's is irritating, and it pulls the reader out of the story—and I'm only on the first chapter. In fact, I've started reading this fic at least ten times and never had the patience to go further.

Breakable by khilari

  • Synopsis: Andy is housesitting for Bonnie's family over Christmas. When he trips and hits his head with no one around but his toys Woody goes to help him. But what can toys really do?
  • Comments: This story shows how the toys are willing to help Andy, even to the point of bending the rules. The author captivates the bond between Andy and his beloved toys.

Just This Once, also by khilari

  • Recommended by Fiwen9430
  • Synopsis: Andy figures out who wrote him the note at the end of the 3rd movie, and asks if he can borrow Woody from Bonnie for one day.
  • Comments: To me this felt so real, like a scene from the movie. The relationship between Andy and Woody is so well captured, and it made me cry from about half way through. The author's other gen fics are also worth looking through.

Shipping Fics

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

Reunited” by D.M. Robb

  • Recommended by Autumn
  • Pairings: Bo/Woody
  • Synopsis: Woody and Bo finally have the chance to see each other again. The main problem is that Bo may have found someone who needs her more. Woody X Bo. Some Jessie X Buzz.
  • Comments: This story reads like a continuation of the third film and really develops Bo Peep’s character. It also has a different twist from your standard Woody-and-Bo-meet-again fic and contains some truly touching moments.

The Intervening Years by BOC42

  • Recommended by Fambera
  • Pairings: Woody/Bo
  • Synopsis: For toys, the friendships and relationships forged over many tender years are held in the small, sticky hands of children. Woody and Bo have learned their lesson well: don't waste the intervening years. Woody x Bo, some Buzz x Jessie.
  • Comments: Hands down, the best Woody/Bo story out there.

Magic Happens by Safi Kittykat

  • Recommended by Ka Blamoid 4 Life
  • Pairing(s): Woody/Dolly
  • Synopsis: Set after the events of Toy Story 3, Andy's toys are enjoying their new life with Bonnie and her toys...but Woody still misses Bo Peep. During one of Bonnie's playtimes, Bonnie "kisses" Woody and Dolly together, and Woody feels like he's cheated on Bo. But a chain of events unfolds that brings Woody and Dolly closer together.
  • Comments: Very sweet, touching and well-written. There's some great characterization here, especially for Woody (his pain over losing Bo is very well portrayed) and Dolly (without spoiling anything, she is given a bit of backstory).

The New Normal by Kayt

  • Recommended by lettergirlmj
  • Pairing(s): Buzz/Woody
  • Synopsis: Takes place after the events of Toy Story 3, Bonnie decides that Woody and Buzz were made for each other, and should never be apart. In time, they come to accept it too.
  • Comments: Simple, sweet, and well-written. This one-shot that gives a interesting take on how Buzz and Woody could convincingly get together. And Bonnie is adorable, as always. There are also a few cute moments between some of the other characters as well.

"Toy Story 4: Andy's Freshman Year of College" by Tremendosaue (Warning: Sexual humor)

  • Recommended by Chabal2
  • Synopsis: Andy keeps Woody and Buzz through college, then brings a girl to his room...
  • Comments: Actually Pretty Funny.

Never Get Over Losing You by Crimsongypsy

  • Recommended by zoeymoe
  • Pairing(s): Woody/Bo and slight Buzz/Jessie
  • Synopsis: Andy's toys are adjusting well at Bonnie's house. However, Woody feels as if someone is missing.
  • Comments: The story has a wonderful Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.

Reading by dogangelsrule.

  • Recommended by Pichu
  • Pairing: Woody/Jessie with slight Woody/Buzz.
  • Synopsis: Woody spends too much time reading. One-shot. Major Woody x Jessie. Hinted Buzz x Woody.
  • Comments: It's a short, cute little fluff fic that reaches the mild side of Tastes Like Diabetes. However despite its child friendly rating Freud Was Right, and due to one line, it can be seen as sexual. Still it's worth the read even if you aren't a Woody/Jessie fan. It's not OOC, it's well written, and not complicated. Not that many errors either.

Maybe by dogangelsrule. (Warning: Has sexual content)

  • Recommended by Pichu
  • Pairing(s): Woody/Jessie/Buzz
  • Synopsis: Life is changing, but Woody's two best friends will always be there to keep him company.
  • Comments: No, this isn't one of those "He likes her and he likes her but she likes.." stories. It's a OT3 fanfic, aka a polygamous fanfic. Woody has been down in the dumps for some time now so Jessie conjures up a plan to help their friend out, and said plan involves both her and Buzz dating Woody. It's an overall rare treat and while it may not be the best fanfic in terms of style, character, and dialogue it's still worth the check.

Hair by dogangelrule

  • Recommended by Pichu
  • Pairing(s): Woody/Jessie, one-sided Buzz/Woody.
  • Synopsis: Woody braids Jessie's hair. One-shot. Woody x Jessie, one-sided Buzz x Woody hints.
  • Comments: It's an endearing story. Not one that you'd typically see in a fanfic, especially a Toy Story one. Woody/Jessie is surprisingly rare, and this story (along with others by this author) capture the characters quite well. While it can be a bit creepy to people, I find it cute.
