- Harsher in Hindsight: In "Hex and the City" from Treehouse Of Horror XII, aired in 2001, Carl and Lenny are crushed to death by a helicopter crashing into Moe's Tavern. Homer graves until he's see Moe's death. While meant to show how Homer's attention is limited, it lost it's humor when a similar disaster happened in Scotland in 2013 [dead link]. Nine people were killed as a result.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: In the “Fly vs. Fly” tale from the 8th Tree House had Bart witness his dog, Santa’s Litter Helper, and Lisa’s cat, Snowball, merged together. Bart’s response:

- Nightmare Fuel: Some of the shorts are really scary such as Nightmare Cafeteria and There's No Business Like Moe's Business for starters.
