Unichat is a text-based Web Comic about a group of people who communicate on a chat program called Unichat (with the entire comic consisting of their fictional chat logs). It is set in the near future, starting in the year 2089 and featuring a lunar colony where the character Sonja (alias SonjaOfTheMoon) lives. The plot is currently unclear, but is "going to be quite epic in scope" according to the FAQ.
The series has recently been rebooted. The reboot is apparently going to be far from just a retelling of the old story. The original can be found here. The new version can be found here.

- Fun With Acronyms: Unichat stands for "Universal Nigh-Instantanious Chat Helper and Terminal".

- Our Graphics Will Suck in The Future: Despite the comic being set in the year 2089, text-based chat is still used... Even between space ships. The author's explanation for this was "mudkips".
- Space Pirates: Lead by a man known only by his Unichat handle "Admiral Pancake". They were seen attacking a shuttlecraft carrying Sonja's family when they were going to Earth for shore leave.
- Theme Naming: The pirate underlings use Unichat handles consisting of a word that starts with "s" and "conspirator". The exception is slenderconspiratrix, who has a slightly different name to designate that she is female. This convention came from the author's friend posting a comment as "silentconspirator" (as did the entire idea of having the underlings as full characters).
- Writing By the Seat of Your Pants: The FAQ says so.
- Webcomic Time: Subverted - There are time-stamps on most comics.
- Weirdness Censor: On occasion, usually related to the pirates.
