Hi. You've been making some great edits, but I'm wondering if you got this from TV Tropes (corrent day, not Wayback Machine), and if so, are you transplanting your own edits?

If not, then we will have to remove content you didn't write yourself, since it would violate our copyright license due to TV Tropes changing it in July 2012.

Also, regardless of the source, please add in your edit reasons or a commented out line on the page where it came from, just to avoid any copyright questions later on.

You can only transplant your own edits. I had to delete those pages you added because they were plagiarism from an incompatible source (aside from your own edits.)

I'm sorry, but you will have to start from scratch (you can import from the Wikipedia article for a start if you need to, just cite the source in your edit reason) if you can't port over your own work.

Also, please use the drop down menu on new pages to select the page template for what you want to create, it adds the templates and categories for you.

I'm unable to retrieve even my own edits. As my editing privileges have been disabled for some time on TV tropes. Per their strange policies. I didn't even bother using the same username I had from over there. How do I retrieve edit history from that?

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

You have my sympathy. If you know what username you edited under, you can search all the edits for that particular troper handle and cherry pick everything by hand, but unless you wrote an entire article yourself and did most to all of the edits on it, you may have an issue reconstituting an article here.

Unfortunately, due to some anal-retentive crap about having their work stolen or something, this is basically the only way to retrieve your edits.

Hope that helps.

P.S. - In your edit reasons, just add 'transplanting edits by my TVT handle (insert name here) to ATT', which should address any copyright issues.

Or the easy way, which is on your user page.

By the way, I'm considering this a failure of our own introduction stuff. No worries about being banned for this stuff here. We all make mistakes. ^_^

Valvatorez (talkcontribs)

The way they force you to log in is annoying. I can't even read it half the time. O well try what I can.

Valvatorez (talkcontribs)

couldn't see my reply delete

Valvatorez (talkcontribs)

There is only one article where I have most of the edits . I'll try creating a page for that. However I won't bother with the ones I didn't make.

That is really annoying. Guess I'll only do stuff that I can remember.

Ugh... Tell me about it.

We could have gone with the CC-BY-NC-SA content to match the current TVT, but I like the license less, and I'm entirely convinced that the license change was illegal. Sorry we can't be more accommodating, but Rapid Edward is determined not to play nice with basically anyone, and forces our hand.

Labster (talkcontribs)

It's not plagiarism, because I'm not convinced one can really "plagiarize" things with a free license. But it is illegal, and carries a potential penalty of thousands of US dollars per copyright infringement. In the interest of removing both of our liabilities, we need to cut the page. Sorry. :/

As Geth said though, we share the same license as Wikipedia, so it is okay to use their page as a starting point. And probably OK to copy the bare list of tropes from TVT (no explanations), because facts aren't really copyrightable. If they do sue us for bare trope lists, eh, I'd pay ATT's attorney fees just to see the interesting case law happen.

I'm not dead!

Haven't been able to edit because of pain in left hand. Cruse you Metal Gear for being awesome.
