Trivia about White Knight, Grey Queen includes:

  • Author Appeal: Jeconais' stories frequently depict Harry as being (or becoming) a skilled dancer with almost inhuman grace, and give him reason to show it off with an equally-skilled partner (and often someone to envy him when he does). It shows up in this story a couple times -- in the club when they go out for his birthday, and later at the joint party for Harry and Ginny at Hogwarts.
  • Series Continuity Error:
    • The barrier cast between the Order of the Phoenix and Harry, Ginny and Pansy as they interrogate Nott is initially described stopping nothing but sound. However, it becomes plot-critical that the Order could hear every word of the interrogation. This may have been an error on the part of the author, who probably meant it stops everything but sound.
    • During the lead-in to the "harem" scene, Ginny is described as "less developed" than Pansy. But earlier, when they're first making friends, Pansy notes that they're both the same cup size and because Ginny is so tiny, her breasts look "huge" by comparison.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Shakesperean variety: Gruoch Parkinson shares her first name with that of the historical Lady Macbeth -- something that Harry, surprisingly, recognizes right off.
    • Gruoch responds to requests for her presence with "You rang?"; that it's a quote from a TV show is acknowledged in dialogue.
      • Dobby later picks up the habit from her and begins responding to calls for him with "You rang?" When Hermione asks him if he knows where the line comes from, he makes it clear he's seen The Addams Family and is deliberately mimicking Lurch.
    • The short verse which Pansy quotes when talking to Harry about death, and which Harry quotes much later in the story -- Death poems/Are mere delusion --/Death is Death -- is a famous Japanese jisei (death poem) by the 18th-century Zen monk Tokō.
    • Sirius's magical Video Will is strewn with Monty Python quotations and references. He quotes the "Dead Parrot" sketch at length to describe his current state of existence, and later notes that he didn't want to be a convict, he wanted to be a lumberjack. He urges Harry to see Life of Brian and ends the recording by singing "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life".
    • The movie is never named, but it's made very clear that Pansy is a fan of Dirty Dancing. She wears a similar dress to the one Jennifer Grey wears at the end of the film to the birthday party at Hogwarts; Grouch provides Harry with an ensemble similar to Patrick Swayze's, which stuns Pansy when she sees him in it.
    • When Hermione learns of Harry's Compelling Voice ability, she explicitly compares him to the Bene Gesserit from Dune.
    • When facing the elder Weasleys, who think that he and Gruoch are evil and have corrupted Harry, Malcom says, "I find your lack of faith in Harry disturbing."
    • Hermione namechecks Doctor Dolittle when she figures out that the Mark of the Spiders lets Harry talk to animals, sort of.
    • Malcom at one point quotes, "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me" from the 1964 film Carry On Cleo, a line voted in 2007 as the funniest one-line joke in history.
