Basic Trope: The King is fat.

• Straight: King Gerald, monarch of Tropetopia, is overweight.
• Exaggerated:
  • King Gerald is so fat, he can't move under his own power. Instead, a team of serfs carry him on a litter everywhere.
  • King Gerald is so obscenely fat he fills up his entire throne room with his own blubber.
• Justified:
  • King Gerald has a medical condition that causes massive weight gain.
  • King Gerald is The Caligula, and loves his food.
• Inverted:
  • King Gerald is a Bishonen.
  • Or dangerously anorexic.
  • Or tall, muscular, and imposing.
• Subverted:
  • Alice is about to meet King Gerald, whom she's heard described as being fat. In reality, he's of a reasonable fit and weight.
  • Or, King Gerald is fat, but goes on a really good diet and becomes an insanely muscular Bishonen type.
  • King Gerald, as it turns out, wears his flab well.
• Double Subverted: After Alice leaves, King Gerald's staff quickly unbinds his royal corset.
• Parodied: Not only is King Gerald morbidly obese, he's a glutton who actively works to stay that way.
• Deconstructed: King Gerald's weight causes medical problems that affect his ability to rule.
• Reconstructed: Despite his size, King Gerald is a healthy, or even startlingly strong, man.
• Zig Zagged:
  • King Gerald tries to stay fit, but likes eating so much that he keeps gaining back the lost weight, and cycles between phases of obesity and normal weight.
  • The series has several kings; some are fat and some are not.
• Averted: King Gerald has an ordinary build.
• Enforced: "King Gerald of Tropetopia" is a Star Vehicle for Bob, a fat Sit Comic.
• Lampshaded: "The weight comes with the crown, actually."
• Invoked:
  • The laws of Tropetopia require the king to be fat as a sign of his right to rule.
  • In Tropetopia, like in many native civilizations, being fat is a sign of wealth, and so, the character's weight is a sign of his social standing and power.
• Defied: The laws of Tropetopia require the king to be physically fit, to set a good example to the people.
• Discussed: "We're going to meet the king! I can't believe it." "I wonder if he'll be fat, like in the books and the movies!"
• Conversed: "You can find the king in any scene just by looking for the fattest character."
