As Truth in Television, children tend to act, at least a little, like their parents. It may have something to do with living together for years and years. Or not.

Either way, stories often drive home this point by saying Like Father, Like Son, or like mother like daughter, or like any relative like any other younger relative. This causes sometimes predictable plotting, Angst, and dramatic tension.

Obviously, often happens to any character with a Truly Single Parent.
