A work portray a group as being an Acceptable Target: If Bob is a member of this group, this is portrayed as automatically making him evil, a Straw Loser, and/or similar. Please note that this is only for in-universe examples: Do not add tropes or examples that are Audience Reaction or otherwise YMMV.
Tropes that are, or often work as, subtropes of this, include:
- Activist Fundamentalist Antics
- All Gays Are Pedophiles
- Animal Wrongs Group
- Bondage Is Bad
- Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkeys
- Depraved Homosexual
- Depraved Bisexual
- Everyone Hates Mimes
- Evil Lawyer Joke
- Hollywood Atheist
- Orderlies Are Creeps
- Stop Being Stereotypical
- The Unfair Sex
Individual examples that discuss designating groups as targets:
Comic Books
- In Sin City, Marv designates hitmen in this way: "I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them you don't feel bad."
Web Original
- The Inside Scoop episode Ban Left Marriage is all about arguing for why left-handed people should be designated as an acceptable target group. (The whole thing is a satire about homophobia.)
