Godzilla: The Series/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Nightmare Fuel: Medusa. Sure, it doesn't actually kill you, but still...brrr...
    • Not to mention the Tachyon aliens. Not only can they control your mind, but if they actually transplant their consciousnesses into you, you'll end up slowly physically mutating into one of them.
      • -and when they're forced out of you at that point, they pretty much put you into a debilitating coma.
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Fans were initially skeptical about the series when it was first announced. Then scenes of Zilla Godzilla Jr. (Toho likes him enough to call him that) fighting other monsters was shown in the previews...
  • Complete Monster: Cameron Winter takes control of Godzilla and makes him destroy properties so he can collect insurance money, even making Godzilla attack a military base and endanger the lives of 500 soldiers. Defeated by H.E.A.T., Cameron returns for revenge and creates a giant monster called the Chameleon to have it attack humans and frame Godzilla for the attacks, before having the Chameleon defeat and kill Godzilla so Cameron can be seen as a hero for creating the thing that kills Godzilla. Foiled again, Cameron breaks three men out of prison and equips them with battle mechs to kill Godzilla, ordering them to also attack H.E.A.T. and the military when they get in the way. Though the hunters are defeated, Cameron denies any connection with them and claims they stole his mechs and attacked Godzilla on their own.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Most of Junior's fights contain at least one.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Zilla freeing Nessie's baby, and catching Nick during the Fire Monster incident.
  • Downer Ending: " End of the Line" doesn't have a happy ending for either Godzilla or Nick.
  • Fan Nickname: This one's nickname is "Toonzilla."
  • Fridge Horror: Due to the events of the movie and episode 2, could you imagine what would happened if Godzilla wasn't spared, and having all kaiju loose, and not to mention the Tachyon invasion? It would be one hell of a Crapsack World.
    • Toho likes this guy enough to honor him with the name Godzilla Jr.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: "Who's been playing dominoes with the World Trade Center?"
  • Just Here for Godzilla: The reason why this show was made. Considered better than the film nonetheless.
  • More Popular Spinoff: A number of entries on this very page should clue you in on how much so.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Zilla himself. Toho calls its parent "Zilla" in its official chronology. This one? Godzilla Jr.
  • Too Good to Last: Too good to even get all the episodes aired, at least in the U.S.
  • Ugly Cute: Junior himself, when he figures out that Nick is "dad." Partly it's the look, partly it's the surprised noise the great lizard makes.
