Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (film)/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Trivia about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (film) includes:

  • Alternate DVD Commentary:
  • Bowdlerise: When broadcast on ABC Family, Dudley's taunt "Who's Cedric? Is he your boyfriend?" is removed.
  • Casting Gag: Rufus Scrigmeour is (according to Luna, who read it in The Quibbler) is actually a vampire. Here Scrigemeour is played by Bill Nighy, who played vampire clan leader Viktor in the Underworld trilogy.
  • Creative Closing Credits: The words appear on a parchment-like background in the same typeface as Umbridge's proclamations. The music is another Credits Medley, opening with part of "Dumbledore's Army".
  • Jittercam: Used during some scenes in the Ministry.
  • Mythology Gag: When they find the Room of Requirement, Ron queries whether it would appear as a bathroom if you really needed it. In the books, the first mention of the Room was when it appeared to Professor Dumbledore as a room full of chamberpots in Goblet of Fire (which didn't make it into the film version).
  • Promoted Fangirl: Evanna Lynch. She made her own radish earrings!
  • What Could Have Been: The adult casting for the film:
    • Helen McCrory was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange, but had to drop out shortly before shooting began after discovering she was pregnant, and was replaced by Helena Bonham Carter. She was later cast as Narcissa Malfoy in Half-Blood Prince. Ironically, shortly before shooting began on Half-Blood Prince, Carter also learned that she was pregnant.[1]
    • Anna Friel, David Thewlis' long-time girlfriend, lobbied hard for the part of Nymphadora Tonks.

  1. You'll notice that Bellatrix is wearing looser robes in HBP, as opposed to the form-fitting ones of OOTP.
