Jurassic Park: The Game/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: While the actual gameplay didn't thrill everybody, a lot of fans were thrilled by the return to the original movie's setting and locations, as well as the introduction of new dinosaurs to the JP canon. Not to mention the game being the first noteworthy JP game since 2003's Operation Genesis.
  • Author's Saving Throw: Dr. Wu adding the frog DNA is used (somehow) for the explanation as to why the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar don't always match up with the fossil record. Alas, there's no retcon for the lysine contingency.
  • Complete Monster: Yoder becomes this late in the game. Sure, he seemed like a pretty decent guy before, and he also just saw his two best friends die horrible deaths. But after his Face Heel Turn, Yoder becomes downright cruel and murderous.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Oscar has proven to be possibly the most popular character in the game. The fact that he knife-fights a Raptor and wins probably helps.
  • Epileptic Tree:
    • Okay, so how did InGen obtain Mosasaur DNA? Gerry even mentions that it would be next to impossible to find any.
    • Dr. Sorkin's journal seems to imply that it might have been completely artificially engineered from the DNA of other animals. It would certainly explain why the Mosasaur has crocodile-like scales, when fossil evidence indicates real Mosasaurs had smooth skin.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Yoder.
  • Love It or Hate It: Depends largely on how you feel about QTEs, which constitute half the gameplay.
  • Narm: Some of the death scenes are unintentionally funny.
