  • Undead Horse Trope: Kai being a likeable, sympathetic Prince Charming, as oppossed to a Prince Charmless, which is ridiculously overused in modern fairy tale retellings, comes off as this.
  • Unfortunate Implications: The evil Lunar queen's name is Levana. Levana means "moon" and "white" in Hebrew. Some readers may think that giving the evil character a Hebrew name- while the good Lunar characters got Cambodian and Greek names- is Anti-Semitic.
    • To be fair, there are so few moon-related names that are not too obvious or copyrighted...
