• Moral Event Horizon: Prior to this arc, many readers already disliked Marshall for being, in their opinion, self-pitying and a clueless enabler of Karen's bullying. Even so, some of these same readers felt his verbally abusive mother and Karen's Manipulative Bastard ways excused these perceived flaws. However, when he deliberately used Aggie's deceased mother against her, much of the fandom felt he'd at last done something truly inexcusable.
