Sonic Underground/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Cliché Storm: A couple episodes.
  • Complete Monster: While not quite up to the level of his SatAM self, Robotnik is still an incredibly vile Evil Overlord. He once tricked Manic with a robot made like a baby hedgehog in the hopes that he'd get attached to it...and reveal where Sanctuary, a place of refuge for children and infants was, so that he could destroy it. Another time, when confronted by a Chaos Emerald-fueled Dingo that was poised to destroy the planet, Robotnik was perfectly willing to let it happen if it meant the hedgehogs would die with it.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: The song "Someday", where Sonic vows that someday he will unite with his siblings.
    • Manic's song, "Home", where he finally feels like he belongs in the idyllic Mobodoon.
    • Rounding out the trifecta is Sonia's song to her friend Mindy, "Money Can't Buy," wherein she states that money can't buy their friendship.
    • Queen Aleena saving the hedgehogs at times, showing how much she cares for her kids.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: If nothing else, the opening theme.
    • "Someday", "The Fastest Thing Alive", and "Home" are pretty good, too.
  • Ear Worm: The theme song.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Manic, to some. It's his fashion sense, I bet.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Amusingly, Chomps, Knuckles' pet dinosaur, shares almost the exact same colors as the Biolizard.
  • Ho Yay: At the end of the second episode, Sonia kisses Sonic on the cheek for a job well done, and Sonic turns to Manic and says, "You're not gonna kiss me, are you?" Manic's answer? "No way, but you are kinda cute." One of the funniest lines on the show.
    • In another episode, Sonic asks for a dance while looking Sonia's direction. She accepts, but then he says he was talking to Manic, and the two begin slow dancing. The pair had a surprising amount of this.
  • Memetic Mutation: Knuckles screaming "I HATE THIEVES!!"
  • Moral Event Horizon: See Complete Monster.
  • The Scrappy: Sleet and Dingo to some extent, as well as Bartleby. Sonia can also be this for her annoying case of Cross-Dressing Voices.
    • This show's version of Robotnik tends to be either ignored or outright loathed in comparison to his more popular and well known counterparts in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and SatAM. Garry Chalk giving a weak vocal characterization is often cited as the main reason for this.
  • So Bad It's Good: The show does have its fans.
    • And then there's those who think this of the music.
  • This Is Your Premise on Drugs: It's the classic Sonic VS. Robotnik story...except Sonic has siblings, is blood related to royalty, and they fight Robotnik through THE POWUH OF RAWK!
  • Uncanny Valley: Some of the characters in this show really crawl close to this territory. (i.e. Just look at Sonia's adoptive mother in the first episode-she looks like something pulled out of a Renaissance Fair!)
