Additionally, it adds the [[Help:Categories|category]] "Pages for speedy deletion" to the page, which causes it to show up on the corresponding [[:Category:Pages for speedy deletion|category page]], as well as on the [[All The Tropes:Community Portal|Community Portal]]. This alerts the wiki administrators that there is a request for a page deletion.
 
While the reason given in the template parameter should be sufficient to explain why the page should be deleted, it is often a good idea to put a corresponding note on the page's Talk page or in [[Forum:Trope Talk|the "Trope Talk" area]] of the forums... especially if your reasons for the deletion are larger or more detailed than can be easily described for the template.
