The Wonder Woman entry

It's not 'justifying edits' to point out legitimate problems in that scene. Furthermore, one of the reasons given for deleting the edit was 'If his powers stopped working while he was unconscious they would have said so'. Super powers NORMALLY stop working when someone is unconscious. Furthermore, Superman had already been stopped in that scene and wouldn't start again until Maxwell Lord gave him new orders to attack -- orders he obviously cannot give if he's unconscious. Therefore, its a legitimate objection to point out. And since the point of Designated Evil is "action is not actually evil but everybody reacts as if it were", a legitimate objection being possible to make to Diana's objections means it doesn't qualify for this trope at all.

In addition, one of the reasons given in the entry as written as factually inaccurate. While it is true that Maxwell Lord said under the Lasso of Truth that there was no way to stop him, that doesn't actually prove that there was no way to stop him. The Lasso of Truth only reveals what the victim believes to be true -- indeed, at least one JLA arc was built on the premise that the Lasso can only reveal subjective truth, not omniscience. So while Max may have sincerely believed himself to be absolutely unstoppable... that doesn't prove anything. Max is a supervillain megalomaniac. They ALWAYS believe themselves to be unstoppable, right up to the point where the heroes stop them.

Yes. Yes it is justifying edits.

The rest of it is just you making crap up.

Go away.

I can't stay long since I'm still trying to get over being ill, so just here to say don't be rude HB, you can discuss this without being pissy about it.

Also, from what I read, the example is borderline. While killing is seen as an absolute last resort for heroes in the DC universe that is usually frowned on at best, if just cause exists, then the killing is justifiable despite the Moral Myopia.

If I am 'making crap up' then it should be trivially easy to point out which part is false. So, please give me an example of Maxwell Lord using his mind-control powers to issue new commands to someone while he was unconscious, or explain to me why the events of JLA #62 (where the Lasso of Truth actually broke because Diana and Rama Khan were having a subjective disagreement over what the truth of the situation actually was) no longer apply, and I will retract my point.

And Geth, the 'just cause' bit is the part why I question that this example belongs on this trope or not, because it means that if Maxwell Lord actually was stoppable in some way short of death then the 'just cause' claimed by Diana doesn't exist, so its not Designated Evil for her fellow heroes to condemn her for it but instead a legitimate difference of opinion between them and her.

Right, well, having waited months for any answer for more substantive than 'You're full of it, nyah nyah', and not getting one, screw it, I'm editing it back in.
