15 examples, good descriptive text. If I don't see any objections, I'll kick this out into the wiki at large.

Exiled to a planet?

Would this trope cover being exiled to a low-tech or uninhabited planet in a Sci-Fi work?

Lequinni (talkcontribs)

IMO it could! There is only a few adjusts in the description to clarify that the trope works as long it was an clear exile to a far away and isolated place out of the main character's original realm of expertise - they have the example of the Law & Order film where the "island" the main character is "exiled" isn't unpopulated for any means but it works as a place of isolation so the metaphor sticks.

Then again, based on the context of the example, it might be better suited to the super-trope, Reassigned to Antarctica. Check that trope first to see if it's a better fit.

Wouldn't Reassigned to Antarctica require it be a reassignment? Seems this trope can cover criminal punishment by someone the character doesn't serve that Reassigned to Antarctica couldn't.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

This trope isn't supposed to be about criminal punishment, though. For that, you want Punishment Detail.
