Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: At the movie's climax, Ricky and Jean both crash their cars, climb out, look at each other as if to say "Now what?" and then complete the final stretch of the race on foot.
    • With Pat Benatar's "We Belong" as background music!
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Thanks to a script once again written by McKay and Ferrell, we get plenty of these.
  • Fan Dumb: A lot of critics and audiences interpreted the movie as a vicious Take That rather than an Affectionate Parody, and for added measure sneered at the fact that the movie was quite popular in the South and with NASCAR fans, who were clearly too stupid to realize they were being mocked. The idea that the joke 1) wasn't meant spitefully by the creators and 2) was understood and appreciated by the Southern audience never seemed to enter into these peoples' heads.
  • Memetic Mutation: "Shake and bake!"
  • Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: The film was a huge hit in middle America, despite (or rather, because of) its constantly making fun of rednecks and NASCAR.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Borat as Girard, Gisselle as Susan, Sue Sylvester as Lucy Bobby.
    • Even though Borat actually existed before Ricky Bobby did.
  • Squick: The knife scene. Full stop.
