The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Alas, Poor Villain: In a way, Antrax. It was never malicious, just following its programming as best it could. Its death, as its systems shut down and it tries desperately to figure out what is happening to it, slowly losing functionality, and even knowledge of who it is, is rather sad.
  • Complete Monster: The Morgawr and Cree Bega. They're both sadistic, High Octane Nightmare Fuel inducing monsters with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Moreover, they lack the excuses that every other villain in the franchise has possessed. Brona, The Skull Bearers and The Mord Wraiths were corrupted by The Ildatch. The Demons are well, Demons; you expect them to be Exclusively Evil. The Shadowen are The Heartless; they have to feed on magic or they go mad. Even the small "d" demons at least have the excuse of being The Soulless. The Morgawr and Cree Bega on the other hand, chose to become what they are, and stayed on their path to monstrosity every step of the way. See the character sheet for exact details.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Ahren finally stepping up to Cree Bega and killing the bastard.
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: The Morgawr, Antrax's wronks, the caulls, and Truls Rohk's true form can all fall into this. The opening sequence of Morgawr where Sen Dunsidan watches the Morgawr feed on hundreds of innocent men is especially memorable in this regard.
  • The Woobie: Ahren Elessedil, Bek Rowe, Quentin Leah. Grianne and Truls Rohk can be seen as Jerkass Woobie; Walker as ever is an Iron Woobie.
