An idea: If you think that a particular trope needs to appear in a work page but we don't have the trope on All The Tropes, first make sure that we actually don't have it under some other name. If we still don't have it, propose it in the Trope Workshop. (EDIT: We'd have to write our own description of the trope if we do that, of course - copying somebody else's text has copyright issues.)

We have had requests to be different from TV Tropes. If we link to their pages whenever we don't have one, then we aren't being different... so we really prefer to use pages here instead of linking there.
