Issues of image sourcing and providing license information were addressed

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

...but please note that when you upload an image to the wiki, it is a legal requirement for you to select a license by which we are allowed to use that image. Your recently-uploaded image File:Dandelionpromo.jpg has no license information (or source information, or categories). Please see the page All The Tropes:Uploading and Adding an Image to a Page for details on what is necessary and how to assemble and include it; then please add the required information to Dandelionpromo.jpg (and to any future images you upload).

Repeated failure to include license information on your image uploads is grounds for tempbanning or worse.

Please let us know you you've read this message and the page I've linked to above.

Thanks.

Thank you. I have read it. I'm sorry that I hadn't seen that page before, but of course it makes sense. I will be more careful in the future.

While I have retrieved the information, I have no idea how to actually add most of it. In such a case, would it be better to purge the image from the wiki?

are you using this image under fair use?

Curex (talkcontribs)

The company does not use Creative Commons license, but use of this image would fall under Fair Use.

You can simply edit the page as though it were an article. That lets you add text to the description, like the source URLs.

Categories can be added at the bottom of the page by putting them in the form [[Category:(name of category)]] at the bottom of the edit box, or you can use the HotCat category control in which they appear at the bottom of the page, by clicking the "(+)" at the end of the box. That'll open a field where you can type or paste in the category name you want; it has a progressive search, so if you type in the first few letters it'll start offering you possible matches.

Adding license info is a little more complicated -- you have to add them as templates, which are special markup, words or phrases with {{ and }} surrounding them. The most likely templates you are to use are {{PD}} for "Public Domain" and {{fairuse}} for "Fair Use". You can find a complete list of the licenses here; the word(s) to use between the curly brackets are found between the bullet point and the vertical bar at the left of each line.

Thank you very much! I believe I understand it now. I added what information I could find for the file. Hopefully this will suffice.

That's perfect, thank you.

Wow, that's two users in two days who've politely, promptly and properly taken care of image license issues. I think that's a new record. <grin>
