• Author's Saving Throw: The English version attempted several measures to improve upon the board game or at least made it easier to get into, to varying results. Some of the attempts are...
  • Using more technical and by-the-word terms a la the then-unadopted PSCT wordings to make the cards' abilities clearer.
  • Instead of using the hollow ramp-open dice like the Japanese version, the English version instead use premade plastic grids with all the possible tilings, while the dice are purely used to roll.
  • Adding the optional "Double Roll" and "Tripe Roll" rules to the game to speed it up.
• Cult Classic: It failed in mere months after release, and is usually only remembered through the "It's just like Duel Monsters" running joke from the Abridged Series. However, the fans it does have are usually pretty loyal and genuinely love the game, with some even taking the Abridged Series joke affectionately (especially after LittleKuriboh made a reverse-joke in Episode 76).
• Gannon Banned: Saying that the game's "Just like Duel Monsters" is a sure-fire way to trigger most of the game's fans, especially those who do take their time to learn the game. Although this seems to have died down quite a lot, with some fans deciding to just ran with the joke, sometimes even affectionately.
• Game Breaker: Blast Lizard. It's a Level 2 monster (making it easy to Dimension), and it possesses an ability to pop a Level 1 monster by paying 3 Spell Crests... An okay ability if left at that; however, it becomes terrifying due to how the controller can add up more Spell Crests to destroy monsters of higher Levels (with a ratio of 1 Crest/Level), practically turning it into instant nukes for any monster. It got to the point that most house rules outright banned it from matches.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: It's unknown whether the game's fate predicted LittleKuriboh or LK draws the joke from the game's fate, but the fact that the real-life game failed and became a mostly unknown Cult Classic mirrors Duke and Rebecca's relationship from the Abridged Series, with Duke's game failing miserably because people keep thinking that it's "the same as Duel Monsters" and Rebecca being a huge fan and saying that it's her favorite board game.
