Cult Classic: His films have gained a loyal following.
Friendly Fandoms: Since he worked with James Gunn for Dawn of the Dead, some fans like both filmmakers.
Unacceptable Targets: After his daughter Autumn's suicide, making fun of him can get you in trouble.
Vindicated by History: His extended editions, particularly Zack Snyder's Justice League have helped improve their reputations.
