  • Continuity Porn -- Many scenes playing out to mirror the first series' in their respective episodes.
    • Episode 4 is the most obvious as both pit the cast in a hopeless fight against a Gidodongus class Space Monster. They are saved by a cross-armed, big damn hero rising majestically onto the battlefield. At the end Nono lands on Dix-Neuf's hand, reversing the scene where Kazumi's RX Battlesuit lands on the Gunbuster's.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome -- The series is even more over the top than the original was.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming -- Tycho's realization of the true nature of her power, and the subsequent defense of the colony, give you the warm fuzzies.
    • Nono giving Lal'C her singularity as a paper crane, after trying and failing so many times to make one in the fifth episode. Also, Nono's final wish before becoming one with the Singularity. Which leads to...
    • Welcome Back. So nice, they end with it twice
  • Ear Worm: Simply say "AH AH AH AH, AH AH AH AH" to anyone who's watched the series and see them start ramming their heads against the wall.
    • This Troper personally knows someone who ended up mimicking Nono's walk in the OP while listening to Groovin' Magic on his portable music player.
    • The ED's pretty catchy too.
  • Moe -- Nono
  • Most Wonderful Sound -- The Buster Machine March, reused from Gunbuster. Subverted in episode 4 when the Variable Gravity Well is revealed. Then played epically straight.
  • Tear Jerker -- Many moments stick out as tear jerkers: but the ending sticks out as the biggest instance of this in this series for this troper: "That night, Buster Machines No. 1 & 2, and their pilots, returned home."
    • Nono performing a Heroic Sacrifice, and leaving Lal'C with a piece of her singularity in the form of an origami crane. A poorly done one, at that.
  • Wild Mass Guessing: Nono is the mother of Simon and Kamina.
