He's a special effects man from Australia. He's a New York detective who specializes in pissing people off. Together, They Fight Crime!

This 1991 film is the follow-up to F/X. F/X master Rollie, now retired from special effects, is asked by his girlfriend's ex-husband to help him catch a killer. When the ex-husband and killer are both killed by an unknown assailant, Rollie turns to former-detective turned Private Investigator Leo McCarthy to help him figure out why and bring the killer to justice. They discover the trail leads to an old case involving stolen gold medallions that have been missing for decades. The antagonists mean to retrieve the stolen medallions and return them to their proper owner, the Catholic church. At the same time, an unknown assassin is trying to kill Rollie and his family in an attempt to destroy all evidence of the murder.

Tropes used in F/X2 include:
