Why won't it let me post a topic with Google Docs Links?
You'll need to give us a bit more information. Do you get an error message of some sort, or does it just not do anything?
Nah, this is an easy one to answer. Less than 10 edits + adding external links = filter blocked. I'll go ahead and mark your account as confirmed, which should resolve the problem.
Ah, right... forgot about that. It's been a long time since it's come up.
I'm writing a story involving British folklore, ghosts, psychopomps, and mediums. For reasons of plot I need to come up with some sort of symbol and/or insignia for the last two but I am very throughly stuck and cannot proceed with the story until I get unstuck. Help!
You might want to check through the Paranormal Tropes section.
I've done that. While helpful in numerious other areas, it wasn't much use with regards to this one.
Crap. Not sure what else to offer, that's not my field of expertise.
Hey, since this place has a writers workshop forum, I was wondering if y'all could check out this Creepypasta I wrote and tell me what you think of it.
It's meant to try and make an overexposed icon of horror scary again without ever mentioning its name. I also need to mention that, while the protagonist says some very offensive stuff, you're not supposed to agree with him, and the idea was to make him look like kind of an asshole.
I hope you like it.
Wow, that was some creepy shit.
Needs a good spell check, but the story structure seems strong. Love how you paced things getting more and more freaky and insane.
I have no idea what the overused horror is you're referring to (I don't follow creepypasta a lot), but what your protagonist (characterization for him is great, don't change it) goes through is definitely Bring My Brown Pants worthy.
Hmm. Got a definite Lovecraft vibe. The 'pollsters' are fairly obviously Deep One hybrids and I'm guessing that the 'mayor' is Cthulhu or something. You did a pretty good job of making that sort of thing nightmareish again.
What better way to get a new writers' board started by posting a thread of useful references and resources? Let me start things off with with a couple of items near and dear to my heart:
- The "Advice, tools, and other goodies for writers" thread on my personal Yuku forums.
- A Fanfic Writer's Guide To Writing, by yours truly.
