Basic Trope: An Internet Troll, who posts irrelevant links and imagery to get a Web community all riled up.

  • Played Straight: In the middle of a Flame War, Trolly McLulz posts links to a Shock Site in reply to a rival's post.
  • Exaggerated: Every single thing Trolly Mc Lulz posts is something like this. He may also use Sock Puppets.
  • Inverted: Trolly posts links and imagery relevant to the topic(s) at hand, that aren't disturbing, disgusting, or incendiary.
  • Justified:
    • Trolly is a Troll.
    • The topic is "Most Disgusting Picture I've Ever Seen"
    • A warning is included that the link or picture is disturbing and/or NSFW
    • Trolly is posting Satire
    • Trolly is posting on a certain Image Board, where this sort of jackassery is both normal and expected behavior.
  • Subverted: Trolly posts a link that is relevant to what's being discussed
  • Double Subverted: The link contains disturbing imagery, and no warning that the link is disturbing or NSFW
  • Deconstructed: All this serves to do is to cause Flame War and Internet Backdraft, and gross people out.
  • Reconstructed: The mods and admins quickly ban Trolly Mc Lulz and remove his posts, or lock the topics.
  • Lampshaded: "Ewww! Don't post shit like that!"
  • Parodied: Trolly posts G-rated LOLcats, and people react like he's posted links to Brazilian scat porn.
  • Averted:
    • Trolly Mc Lulz doesn't do this, though he may engage in other forms of trolling and Cultural Posturing.
    • Trolly Mc Lulz doesn't post on the forum.
  • Enforced:
    • The topic is "Most Disgusting Thing I've Ever Seen Online"
    • GIFT
  • Invoked: Trolly Mc Lulz finds himself on a pro-choice forum, and posts pro-life propaganda and pictures of aborted fetuses.
  • Defied:
    • Trolly decides he's better than that, and moves onto something more interesting, or gets a hobby.
    • The mods and admins chastise Trolly and take down his posts, or ban him from the site.
