Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull/Trivia
- Actor Allusion:
- Harrison Ford apparently became Genre Savvy about whether somebody escaped or was merely let go. He also says, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
- This isn't the first time John Hurt has been messed up by aliens.
- Banned in China: Averted in Russia. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation tried to get it banned, but failed.
- The Character Died with Him: Marcus Brody.
- Fake Russian: Plenty of it.
- Saved From Development Hell: It took 19 years for the film to be released, mainly because it took that long for Lucas, Spielberg and Ford to find a script they liked.
- Technology Marches On: Somewhat inverted; to better match the previous three movies, this movie was filmed rather that shot digitally.
- What Could Have Been:
- Early script treatments (from the 90's) supposedly had Indy communicate frequently with the alien, who would have had a name and a backstory.
- Spielberg had wanted to include Loa Che in this movie—a secondary villain from The Temple of Doom who had ended up a complete Karma Houdini unlike the Big Bad—with the intent being to correct that. Unfortunately, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull spent such a long time in Development Hell that Roy Chiao, the actor who portrayed Loa Che, had passed away by the time production started. Out of respect for Chiao, the idea was scrapped.
