Jerry Eugene Pournelle (August 7, 1933 – September 8, 2017) was an American science fiction writer, essayist and journalist who contributed for many years to the computer magazine Byte.
He has a reputation for writing hard science fiction, and did some of his best fiction work in collaboration with Larry Niven.
Pournelle served as President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1973.
