- Genius Bonus: The name Otto Carius can be read in the German textbook under Taki's words. He was a German tank commander during World War II who reputedly destroyed more than 150 tanks. It's pretty cool, even if the world of the manga isn't the real world so...
- Iron Woobie: Taki. His situation is gut-wrenching and his devotion to his country and his people is really admirable.
- Jerkass Woobie: Klaus. His own situation is NOT easy, but it doesn't justify how he treats Taki.
- Moe: Taki in the omake. Cat ears and tail, huge eyes, a frilly apron, getting molested by Naughty Tentacles and acting all caring and worried about Klaus and making him food... No wonder Klaus reacted the way he did.
