Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crazy Awesome - Hosaka. Especially when cooking.
  • Dude, Not Funny - Natsuki violently pushing various people around, including sending his older brother to a floor and Maki to a desk. To be fair, he's not aggressive at all, he probably considers it normal.
  • Ear Worm - Chiaki hears Hosaka's song about curry and Chiaki ends up singing it herself a few times.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse - Hosaka, for being amusing. "Mako-chan" too, for, uh, other reasons.
  • Fridge Sadness - It is strongly implied that the sisters' parents are dead, and that they live on welfare. Also touching is not just how Chiaki sees Haruka as a surrogate mother, but Fujioka as a surrogate father (especially after Haruka said he reminded her of their father).
  • Memetic Badass - "Hosaka is GOD", "Hosaka just got promoted to God status", "Epic cook Hosaka", "Volleyball Yaranaika?"
  • Memetic Outfit - The aforementioned "I AM BOSS" T-shirt.
  • Nightmare Fuel - friendly Hosaka.
  • The Scrappy - Fuyuki, to both Chiaki and the audience.
  • Values Dissonance - Or rather, cultural habits dissonance. Now, in Japan one causally or traditionally takes off one's shoes in the home and sits on the floor rather than a chair. So when Chiaki asks "what's there when you sit down but goes away when you stand up?", her answer is "the soles of your feet". When this Western troper had heard that riddle before, the answer was "your lap".
