• The "monsters" that you can see while hallucinating in-game are shout-outs to various other franchises and fictional works.
  • The Ancient Multi-Hued Dragon, Ent and Morgoth are all borrowed from fellow roguelike Angband - both game draw from the universe of works written by J. R. R. Tolkien.
• "<foo> needs food, badly!"
  • The message occasionally displays when the player character becomes sufficiently hungry, but will always display if your character is any of the roles that were present in Gauntlet - Valkyrie, Wizard, or elves of any role.
