SMG4 is the name given to a series of YouTube videos done by... SMG4 (or SuperMarioGlitchy4). Created in 2011, it's mostly a standard parody series featuring various Super Mario characters alongside various others. As with most SM64 machinima, it first started off as dialog-based series that inserted captions over Super Mario 64 game-play. Later, Garry's Mod was introduced in the second season, and the series made a full transition to it in the seventh season. As of the end of November 2021, it has 620 episodes, 2 'movies', and a spin-off show.

- Adaptational Jerkass: Played for Laughs.
- Mario becomes a Chaotic Stupid Heroic Comedic Sociopath who straddles the line between adaptational jerkassery and outright villainy, varying between Good Is Not Nice and Villain Protagonist from one episode to the next (sometimes even within one episode).
- Peach is often moody and demanding, while Toad tends to be an ill-tempered Deadpan Snarker.
- Beautiful Dreamer: Axol considers the sleepyhead Melony this.
- Chaotic Stupid: Much of the SMG4 universe runs on this - Bowser, Wario, Bob... even Meggy has her moments. Perhaps the most prominent example is Mario himself: He has a constant hunger for spaghetti and mushrooms, enjoys riding his kart in circles, abuses Yoshi (while singing the famous Super Mario Bros. melody) because he is too lazy to walk by himself, undresses randomly in public, etc. An adventure with him never gets boring, at least. However, never get between him and his spaghetti!
- Escalating War: The Mario Mafia takes this to comical extremes - a spilled plate of spaghetti results in the death of an entire family minus the father.
