Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: The trailers on Cartoon Network and in the Warner videos sparked interest. The dark, foreboding opener of a castle in a thunderstorm - meh, seen it before. Then a monster rips open doors to reveal... Fred, Velma and Daphne - together for the first time in more than 15 years. Thirty seconds later, that oh so beautiful theme song plays - and there was no doubt the Dork Age was over and Scooby Doo was BACK.
  • Awesome Music: Third Eye Blind's Alternative-Rock version of the Scooby Doo theme at the beginning.
  • Complete Monster: Jacques. Unlike the other two villains, who didn't realize what they were getting themselves into and are just trying to stay alive, he wanted the curse so he could become immortal. It's fully implied he knew exactly what it entailed and took it anyway, knowing full well he'd need to suck the life force out of hundreds of innocent people to sustain his eternal life.
    • A surprisingly small deal is made out of this in the film itself, the details dropped almost offhandedly by Simone during a Ms. Exposition moment. It's only when you sit and think about him for a while that precisely how much of a bastard this guy would have to be hits you. And does the character LOOK that evil to you? Or act it? Not at all, so you wouldn't suspect a thing...until he transforms into a monster and strikes, embracing his true nature. He's a metaphor for a Serial Killer.
  • First Installment Wins: Oodles of direct-to-video Scooby-Doo films followed the success of this one, but few if any of them earned as much acclaim.
  • Foe Yay: During their reveal Lena had this for Fred after spending most of the movie charming him.

Lena: Sorry Freddy, I really do like you.

Jackson Pettigroup: Thank you all.

    • Earlier, the gang reuniting and sharing excitement for solving another mystery together.
  • Moe: Well, ain't Lena just the cutest little Southern chick you ever did see? It may or may not be an act; we don't see enough of her pre-curse to judge what her personality was like back then, but she definitely uses it to fool people.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Quite possibly the first legitimately scary Scooby-Doo story ever. it even has its own page, for pete's sake!
