  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Miguel O'Hara is more fond of quipping and jokes than his comic counterpart.
    • Madame Web grants Miguel a power he doesn't normally have; Spider Sense. She must have given him another of the basic Spider-man powers; Quirky sense of humor! And thus, the day was saved, thanks to; Fridge Brilliance! Depending on your tastes, O'Hara is probably the funniest of the Spider-Men
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Spider-Man 2099 is one of the playable Spider-Men, and his dimension is a fantastic looking cyberpunk city.
    • "Deadpool! YAY! ...wait, it's ULTIMATE Deadpool? Boo! ...Wait, he has the ORIGINAL's personality? YAY!"
    • Neil Patrick Harris as the voice actor for Amazing Spider-Man. Activision knew he'd overshadow the other voice actor announcements if he was announced as his character's dimension was confirmed, so waited until all of the other Spidey voice actors were revealed before announcing Harris's involvement with the game.
  • Complete Monster: Mysterio, of all people. As the game's ultimate Big Bad, he opens up the game by trying to steal the Tablet of Order and Chaos in order to sell it for a profit on the black market, which unbeknownst to him is a highly dangerous artifact capable of enabling those who use it with godlike power. After shattering it in a fight with Spider-Man, Mysterio gets away with a fragment and finds that its given him an enormous power boost, and thus goes on a rampage with it all over New York. When Spider-Man finds the other tablet shards with the help of three other Spider-Men from alternate universes, Mysterio takes his advisor Madame Web hostage and tortures her, threatening to kill her if Spider-Man doesn't hand over the shards he's gathered. When Mysterio reassembles them, he annihilates the multiverse itself with his endgame being to recreate it all in his image and rule it as a god before being soundly trounced by all four Spider-Men working together.
  • Crazy Awesome: Deadpool. And he's very proud of it:

Deadpool: "But who would be crazy enough to... Oh, wait...it's ME!"

  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Has its own page.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: Hammerhead's Stage, Deadpool's Stage, and Hobgoblin's Stage to name a few.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Serena Patel/Doc Ock 2099 seems to be very popular due to being an attractive gender-bent Doc Ock.
    • And as per usual, Deadpool. Even moreso since he has his mainstream personality despite being the Ultimate incarnation of the character which is a rather nasty Complete Monster.
  • Excuse Plot: This all powerful tablet that no one has ever heard about breaks. Doing so can break dimensions. It's scattered over four of 'em. Each with a Spider-Man.
    • Ultimate Spidey's black suit is arbitrarily given to him to "aid in his quest," though everyone knows it's just to make him distinct from Amazing.
    • And Noir Spidey is given more of the others' powers to make him a little less distinct, though it's justified because a brutal gun-toting vigilante would definitely clashed with the rest of the game's style.
  • Genius Bonus: "I believe it was Goethe who said: 'He who jealously guards his fears, secretly yearns to bring them about'... Either him, or Irving Forbush."
  • Goddamned Bats: The exploding kamikaze critters in Doc Ock's stage.
    • The green Electro-creatures are also annoying.
  • Good Bad Bugs: The Wii version allows you, in the Noir Stages, to rescue a hostage fairly quickly in the Goblin segment by simply walking through the right bars (also meaning you don't need to open the cage in the first place.). A similar glitch is also in the first level, and requires some timing to pull of, which allows you to get in the hallway Hammerhead and his henchmen are: Get spotted, and then use a web-strike, and you'll be in the same hallway, though they'll have disappeared.
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: It's time for the Vulture to FEASSST!
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: During the first fight with Deadpool, one of Spider-Man's quips is that he's "two clowns short of a circus". Guess what his fragment power is?
    • Marvel had previously claimed that a crossover between the mainstream and Ultimate books would mean they had officially run out of ideas. This has mainstream, Ultimate, 2099, and Noir!
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Ultimate Deadpool has MUCH more in common with his mainstream-counterpart than he does usually.
  • Squick: In Deadpool's own words.

Deadpool: "And is it true there's a clone of you out there with your brain, but trapped inside a girl's body?"
Spidey: "Ehhh..."
Deadpool: "'Cause that's kind of like CREEEPY and by "kind of" I mean INSANELY! I'd still hit it though."

  • That One Boss: GODDAMN IT, BOOMERANG! It's because instead of fighting him outright, you have to catch and deflect his boomerangs back at him. Due to his and his weapon's speed however, it's a lot easier said than done.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A pre-order bonus is Cosmic Spider-Man suits for the four different Spidey's, the endgame features Mysterio trying to destroy all four universes... Yet somehow, the Cosmic Spidey costumes weren't worked into the storyline.
    • Let's just say it, the four Spider-Men only saying around two lines a piece to one another.
