This has ten examples, and two categories in addition to the required ones.

The description... is a bit weak - it's even shorter than the description for Signature Device.

Can the description be fleshed out a bit more?

Utini501 (talkcontribs)

I've been trying to come up with a better description, but my mind's blank.

You know, maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, but this trope feels redundant since Color-Coded Characters is already a thing.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I definitely see overlap between the two, but I think they're still different enough to make it worthwhile to have both.

Color-Coded Characters is where (almost) everybody in the main cast has a color, and they all have a Limited Wardrobe.

Signature Colors is when one character has a color, and it shows up in everything that they wear.

Unless I'm misreading the tropes... Am I mistaken?

Lequinni (talkcontribs)

Also, Signature Colors are not limited just to characters, but can extend to groups.

Utini501 (talkcontribs)

Looks like I was mistaken, then! I'll try to get a better description put together, it's just proving to be weirdly hard for some reason.

''One of the easiest ways to make a character stand out is to heavily associate them with a color. Sure, a distinct appearance and likable personality are far more important since a good character needs substance, but color association can go a long way in making somebody stand out in the viewer's mind. Hair color, clothing, food, and special weapons are just some of the many ways Signature Colors can be applied to a character. They also play a big role fleshing out factions: whether it's something as mundane as a sports team or frat house, or something far grander like a militia or a criminal organization, it's a safe bet that there will be a special color or combination thereof that said faction will claim as their own.''

''This is usually an in-universe trope, where the color scheme is self-enforced by the characters as opposed to 'just' the artists. Settings with Elemental Powers will often have signature colors for each element commonly worn by their wielders.''

''This is a subtrope of Color-Coded for Your Convenience, and Supertrope of Color-Coded Wizardry and Color-Coded Patrician.''

How's this for a new description?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

That looks good to me!

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Agreed!

EDIT: Maybe mention national flag colors as one of the "high-end" expressions of this trope, particularly pointing at Americans and red-white-blue everything?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

A dozen examples, a good description. Could use a category or two more, but what it has is adequate.

Nominating for launch.
