Should we separate swallowing the tongue from biting it? There might be cases where both happens.
Also should we change the name to something more general and broaden the description? There is an example where someone is killed by someone else by having his/her tongue removed. We could just leave it as is and claim it's close enough for Tropes Are Flexible to apply.

Extonguination sounds like it might be referencing Exsanguination. But the death doesn't have to be blood loss. If someone bleeds and drowns or otherwise asphyxiates on their own blood, that counts too. If someone chokes on their tongue that also counts.
It wasn't intended to suggest death by blood loss. It was intended as a pun.

Hm. I think that would be a sister trope to this, with the key difference being that Tongue Trauma is non-fatal damage, where this is lethal.
Ah, okay. I suppose it would be overhasty to add a note to that effect to Tongue Trauma before this trope is finalized?
Might be a sub-trope of Tongue Trauma. I don't see anything about Tongue Trauma saying it can't be lethal in the article.

I'd add more examples if I knew were to look, maybe merging the Wuxia stuff together stating that "There's many examples of tongue suicide in this genre, like that (insert title with Chang Yue)." Other than that, I don't know what else to add.

I think so. I've done some cleanup, as several examples needed to be put into actual proper English as opposed to English words in an approximate order. However, there was something I couldn't fix -- one of the literature examples is missing a character name -- literally, the example read "the empress and ,". I've put a string of ?????? there, and it needs to be corrected.

Cang Yue is the Empress, personally, I think ???? is one of the generals or her lover. Hope that helps a bit.
