Suggestion: Broaden "accented characters" to "special characters and punctuation" (or such)

This would cover titles that use an ampersand (redirect from versions with and), at sign (iDOLM@STER), ligature (Æon Flux/Aeon Flux), or mathematical symbols (While ∀ Gundam's page resides at Turn A Gundam, which is widely used officially, I'm sure there's other examples), and possibly also titles with hyphens instead of spaces (B-Movie vs. B Movie). In practice this is widely done already and seems like it would be better to officialize it than try getting rid of all the examples.

I concur, officialize it.

Mm. On actually starting to write a revised version, I recall that the original reason for the guideline as written was to make it easier for users to find names which contained characters that could not be typed in easily (ie, having to resort to ALT+number on keypad). So yes to adding ligatures and math symbols, but not necessary for "@" or ampersands. We were also at the time trying to balance redirects necessary for functionality and ease of use against a flood of redirects for every possible variation in capitalization and punctuation. I think given how easy it is to type in "&" that we actually need to discourage (and actively hunt down and delete) redirects that use "and" instead.

If we're going to have alternate work names as redirects (which we suggest in the Style Guide), then we have to be careful that we don't delete them as unused redirects.

Other than that, I have no opinion on the matter.
